It
consists of mini
brass band
competitions within
the local villages
awarding points for
each bands
performance for both
marching and playing
(including some
local prizes). There
was a total of 86
bands (championship,
1st, 2nd, 3rd and
4th section bands)
that competed in
this years event in
the Tameside region
where Stone Town
Band came 39th out
of the 50 bands that
qualified.
“This
event was a great
opportunity for the
band to show how it
has progressed in
the last nine months
since the
appointment of
musical director
Graham Randle
(August 2009)"
stated Chairman
David Chapman. The
band didn't
disappoint the
crowds, providing
some rousing
performances,
marching to the
music The Cross of
Honour and playing
the march Glemdene
on the stand. Both
Graham and David are
pleased with the
progress the band
has made to date and
are now looking
forward to the bands
next competition
later this year.
